Church Committees

Governance

The 9-member Board of Trustees and the Minister meet each month to provide direction and administration for the church. Generally, meetings are open and new members are welcome to attend.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying and developing church leadership for our standing committees.

Development & Finances

Appointed by the Board, the Finance Committee helps manage the annual budget of the church. Members of the Investment Committee are elected by the congregation and manage the church’s financial investments.

It is the responsibility of the congregation to strengthen their financial support to the church through the annual canvass and other activities coordinated by the Stewardship Committee.

Overseeing the church building and grounds is a huge responsibility for the members of All Souls. In addition to the day-to-day care, members of the Property Committee work with the Board of Trustees to plan for capital expenditures.

Fundraising at All Souls is crucial to the financial well being of our church. Some of the traditional fundraising events the Ways and Means Committee coordinates include Enchanted Kingdom, monthly dinners, concerts, tag sales and World Eye Bookshop Day.

Spiritual Development

The Worship Committee plans the Sunday services that are not conducted by the minister. Committee members brainstorm, find speakers and organize lay-lead services.

The Religious Education (RE) program builds community among our children and supports their spiritual growth through Sunday school classes and group activities. The RE program also coordinates special events like Enchanted Kingdom, the May Day celebration and overnight district youth conferences. In addition it offers opportunities for community members to minister to our children and to one another.

The Committee on the Ministry shapes the ministry of the church as a whole and acts as a sounding board for the hired ministry. Church members with ministry concerns are encouraged to call or approach members of the committee.

The All Souls Choir performs at one or two Sunday services each month as well as at some special services. They rehearse Thursday evenings at the church.

Music is a wonderful part of our Sunday mornings. Members of the Music Committee arrange the mix of accompanists and soloists who grace our Sunday and special services.

The Flower Committee operates a fund endowed to provide flowers for the sanctuary for Sundays and special services.

Community Life & Heritage

The Hospitality Committee coordinates our Sunday morning greeters, who help welcome newcomers and visitors, and the coffee hour following the service.

Newcomers are invited to participate as they enter the church community. The Membership Committee also organizes social and special events.

The Heritage Committee is concerned with preserving the church history through narrative and photographs.

The Wise Women are a group of older women who meet on the second Thursday of each month to share the joys and challenges of aging. They write and share vignettes about the past, cook and share meals, read and share books, share talents and hobbies and do some good works.

Community Outreach

In addition to our Minister’s duties in pastoral care, members of the Caring Committee perform a wide range of services to the membership of the church that are in need of assistance.

The Social Justice Committee coordinates programs such as current event and educational forums, support for peace and justice actions and organizations, anti-racism work and relations with our Romanian partner church.

Based on need, the Charity Committee grants up to $100 in emergency funds to Greenfield residents from a small, endowed fund.

Three times yearly, All Souls makes and serves Community Meals at Second Congregational Church in Greenfield. All Souls founded this program in 1984.
